Dallas Willard gave the “Faith and Philosophy” lectures at North Park University in 1997.
He was a remarkable writer and lecturer; he made complicated material accessible, and he showed how ancient wisdom is still wisdom today.
Willard wrote on Jesus, the Bible, and Christian tradition, but also on philosophy and especially Husserl. I asked him if he felt like he had had two careers. “No,” he said, “but I can see why it might look that way.” In fact, Willard’s work brings those traditions together in a mutually helpful dialogue.
He passed beyond the veil on May 8, 2013.
